In order to “Get SMART” you simply need to follow the four simple principles identified below.

  1. Outsource certain tasks to offload overhead.
  2. Think of your outsourced party more as a Strategic Partner than just a third party vendor. True Strategic partners realize the importance of your success and become a trusted agent that can plug directly into your processes and procedures.
  3. Put control measures in place to make sure you obtain Superior Results from your new strategic partner.
  4. Pay your strategic partner 20% Below your employees annual salary and bonus. Doing so means you’d probably be reducing your true employee cost by 50 % or more.

Whats the “SMART” Benefit for your organization?

Let’s take a look at an actual example = One client hired Ridgeback to recruit on their behalf as they implemented a new initiative that identified an estimated need for 20 new full time employees.

When the client looked at their options (hire at least one full time recruiter, or outsource to a contingent or retained recruiting agency) they realized the tremendous SMART savings in recruiting those 20 personnel if they outsourced to Ridgeback.

Example by the numbers = In 18 months, Ridgeback recruited 17 full time employees. The full cost to client was $5000 per month with an 18 month cost of $90,000.

Our client was SMART when they did the numbers and realized that to hire one full time recruiter, they’d have to pay a minimum $80,000 base salary (plus benefits and bonus) with an estimated Total Annual cost of roughly $110,000-120,000. In the same 18 months, their total one recruiter cost would have been roughly $180,000 to recruit the same 17 employees.

If they hired a contingency or retained recruiter at a 20% fee, their fees would have been over $350,000!

So as you can see, the SMART program fee isn’t your normal fee arrangement. It’s a fee that your company can pay to a highly capable and cost efficient outside party that will provide you certain needed capabilities while significantly reducing cost.

As stated in principle #4, in order to be considered SMART, the fee must always be significantly less than what employers pay an employee (we recommend paying no higher than 80% of the employees salary and bonus).
